About

77 Flavors exists to foster a deeper appreciation of place and to combat historical erasure by telling stories that have too often been overlooked.

History is not only found in textbooks or archives. It lives in buildings, street names, food, music, and the memories of the people who have been here before us. When those stories go undocumented, entire communities disappear from the narrative of a city.

We believe that learning your local history is the first step toward claiming your place within it.

CHICAGO

Chicago is both our starting point and our guide. Its neighborhoods, histories, and communities shape how we choose our stories, how we conduct our research, and how we engage with the people whose experiences we document.

This is not simply where our work happens; it is the lens through which we understand history, culture, and the meaning of place.
